PRATAY

Who We Are

About Us

PRATAY (Promotional Research Advocacy Training Action Yard) is a pioneering non-government development organization established in 1991, dedicated to empowering marginalized communities across Bangladesh. For more than three decades, we have worked tirelessly to create pathways to dignity, self-reliance, and social justice for poor and disadvantaged people.

With a strong operational presence across eight districts and a committed team of 424 professionals and volunteers, PRATAY has positively impacted the lives of over 317,000 individuals through comprehensive, multi-sectoral programs. Our interventions span inclusive and non-formal education, microfinance and income-generating activities, women’s economic empowerment, child protection, disability inclusion, livelihood and entrepreneurship development, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), climate resilience, and rights-based advocacy.

Our approach is rooted in partnership, accountability, and collaboration. We work closely with key government institutions such as the Bureau of Non-Formal Education (BNFE), the Department of Women Affairs (DWA), and the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), alongside respected international development partners including UNICEF, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, ActionAid, CARE, and Oxfam.

Together, we are building inclusive systems, strengthening community resilience, and advancing sustainable development across Bangladesh.

A Message from the Executive Director

Welcome to PRATAY. Since our establishment in 1991, we have remained steadfast in our mission to organize people, build capacity, and create sustainable pathways out of poverty. Our vision of a just society—where every person, regardless of their background, has access to quality resources and opportunities—continues to guide every decision we make.

Over the past three decades, we have witnessed remarkable transformations. Women who once had no voice are now leading community organizations. Children who were denied education are now in classrooms. Families living in extreme poverty are now earning dignified livelihoods. These changes did not happen by chance—they happened because communities came together, supported by dedicated development workers and strategic partnerships.

PRATAY’s strength lies in our people-centered approach. We don’t impose solutions; we co-create them with the communities we serve. We believe in the inherent potential of every individual, and our role is to unlock that potential through education, training, advocacy, and access to resources.

As we look to the future, we remain committed to expanding our reach, deepening our impact, and advocating for systemic change that benefits the most vulnerable. I invite you to join us in this journey—whether as a partner, supporter, or advocate for social justice.

Together, we can build a Bangladesh where no one is left behind.

Warm regards,
