For over 30 years, PRATAY has been working alongside the most vulnerable communities in Bangladesh — empowering women, educating out-of-school children, protecting rights, and creating sustainable livelihoods.
We believe every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and a voice.
Together, We Build a Just Bangladesh
A Message from the Executive Director
Welcome to PRATAY. Since our establishment in 1991, we have remained steadfast in our mission to organize people, build capacity, and create sustainable pathways out of poverty. Our vision of a just society—where every person, regardless of their background, has access to quality resources and opportunities—continues to guide every decision we make.
Over the past three decades, we have witnessed remarkable transformations. Women who once had no voice are now leading community organizations. Children who were denied education are now in classrooms. Families living in extreme poverty are now earning dignified livelihoods. These changes did not happen by chance—they happened because communities came together, supported by dedicated development workers and strategic partnerships.
PRATAY’s strength lies in our people-centered approach. We don’t impose solutions; we co-create them with the communities we serve. We believe in the inherent potential of every individual, and our role is to unlock that potential through education, training, advocacy, and access to resources.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to expanding our reach, deepening our impact, and advocating for systemic change that benefits the most vulnerable. I invite you to join us in this journey—whether as a partner, supporter, or advocate for social justice.
Together, we can build a Bangladesh where no one is left behind.
Warm regards,
Rokeya Jahan (Reba)

Success Stories
Shefali Begum
The Story of Cattle Fattening Success
By receiving Pratyay’s 17 months of life quality training followed by 10 months of skills development training.
Inspired by Pratyay’s training, Shefali took a turning point. On the advice of facilitator Md. Rahmatullah, she acquired a cow on a share-farming arrangement and purchased a dairy cow with an NGO loan. She now sells two liters of milk daily to neighbouring households, earning 120 taka per day — enough to cover feed costs, loan repayments, and basic household needs.
Building a Future Through Skills
Inspired by the training, Anjali initiated fish farming in three ponds with her husband. Step by step, her income increased, food security improved, and her children were able to continue their education. Now, Anjali is planning to expand her livelihood by leasing more ponds and investing her savings into sustainable income-generating activities.
